The 10th of May 2010 saw the cadets of 2048 (Dagenham) Squadron being honoured at the squadrons annual presentation evening

The event held at Dagenham Royal British Legion was attended by the Mayor of Barking & Dagenham Charles Fairbrass MBE, Wing Commander Sylvie Silver RAFVR(T), Officer Commanding London Wing ATC and Squadron Leaders RAFVR(T) Phil Pidgeon and Colin Gale, Wing Staff, London Wing ATC.

 

The following awards were presented by the Mayor:

Academic Achievement - Cdt Adam Gadhvi
Sports Person of the Year - Cdt Victoria Onyeka
Best Attendance - Sgt Aidan Brown
Marksman of the Year - Cpl Jade Wood
Best Recruit - Cdt Alex Burfield
NCO of the Year - Sgt Sam Holland
Cadet of the Year - Cdt Anthony Pearce

 

Several cadets also received certificates for passing their leading and senior cadet examinations, the certificates were presented by Wing Commander Sylvie Silver RAF VR(T). The examinations form part of the training syllabus that all of the cadets take part in throughout the year.

 

During the start of 2010 the cadets were involved in raising money for the Robyn Higgins Trust. The cadets helped by walking 20 kilometres around the wards of Barking & Dagenham. Through their efforts they raised £1,270.19. This amount was presented by Flying Officer Vijay Chudasama (Squadron Training Officer) and was collected on behalf of the trust by PCSO Pam Tate.

 

Flight Lieutenant Stuart Colman RAFVR(T), Officer Commanding 2048 (Dagenham) Squadron commented "It's great to have the chance to thank the cadets for all of their efforts over the past year, the award winners have excelled, and the cadet of the year has set the standard for next year. I'm glad so many friends and family could make the event to see what the cadets have been doing and how well they have been doing it."
