Cadets visit Police station as part of the Duke of Edinburghs Award.

Cadets from 2048 (Dagenham) Squadron visited Dagenham Police station as part of the service element of the Duke of Edinburghs Award (DEA) scheme

The service element is just one section of the DEA scheme. The scheme is divided into three levels; Bronze, Silver and Gold, with each level having four sections; Service, Skill, Physical Recreation and an Expedition, the Gold also has a fifth section which is Residential. The cadets are currently working on the Bronze award.

Cadets visited the station to see how it functions, how they deal with the day to day tasks and what the Police do within the local community. The tour organised and lead by Sgt John Goodwin included visits to the custody section, the cells, the briefing room and vehicle compound. The tour also included a question and answer session with the Borough Commander, Chief Superintendant Tony Eastaugh.

The visit also marked the start of an ongoing project, which the cadets will be presenting to local dignitaries in the coming weeks. The project deals with Knife crime, it's effects on the local community, and how it can be dealt with effectively.
