First Night

You've plucked up the courage to come along. As you arrive at the squadron you will be greeted by an NCO. The first night will normally be very informal, you will be shown around the squadron, meet with the other cadets and see what is in store during your training. You will be issued with a welcome pack. This contains certain forms that we need completed, it also has a summary of the training and lists the kit needed.

Filling in Forms

You will be given some forms which will need to be signed by your parents. These forms are very important and should be completed as soon as possible.

You will be given a uniform size form, please complete this with metric measurements. Your uniform is ordered from this form so please make sure that the sizes are correct.

Basic Training

Your basic training is designed to give you all of the information you will need to be able to complete the activities that are available. It will consist of some theory based subjects including History of the ATC and RAF. You'll also cover some of the more practical subjects such as Initial Expedition Training, Campcraft and Rifle Training.

The Basic Training is the most important part of your cadet career, it will show you what is on offer, what can be achieved and how you can get the most out of the ATC.

Completing your training

Once you have completed your Basic Training course you will be presented with your certificate of training and you will now be a full member of the squadron, you will be assigned to a flight and will have passed your First Class training.

What next?

Now you join in with the normal squadron activities along with the rest of the cadets, you'll be eligible to attend the majority of activities such as Flying and Gliding. Furthermore you will progress through the Classifications, and possibly ranks too!

How do I join

All you need to do is contact us in some way, let us know you are interested in joining and one of our staff will guide you through the joining process, even better why not come along and see us at the Squadron.
